→ Mellinora Wolfanger of the Tenth. 20 years old, only child raised in relative seclusion because of latent magical abilities.
→ Born to Mellit and Lenora (nee Westren) Wolfanger; Melli's name is a portmanteau of her parents' own. Mellit is Demara's Bloodknight incumbent, while Lenora is a potions master and herbologist.
→ As heir to the rule of Demara, she inherits the title Bloodmaiden. (Male counterpart would be Bloodknight.) Understands her world's politics better than some might think, but does her best to appear unassuming and harmless.
→ By birthright, she's the current High Priestess of the Hebaron, the three ancient gods responsible for bringing the greatbeasts to life. As a priest-witch, she can speak to all manner of living creatures, including the greatbeasts and Hebaron themselves.
→ Her true gifts (blessings from the gods, one gift each) are healing through time reversal (extremely taxing, has limits), soothsaying (memory-dreams) and truesight (seeing through greatbeasts and lesser creatures, can work on humans if she tries). Otherwise baseline, has no fight or defense training.
→ Betrothed to Hevry Dracis since infancy, to keep the peace among the Houses. May be harboring feelings for her sworn guard John Hosletter (improving), however, which could be a problem.
